By now you should have received your special Pesach mailing with important Pesach information.
Here are the answers to my “Pesach Challenge”.

1. How many parts in the Pesach Seder? (15)
2. Name the book that we use at the Pesach Seder. (Haggadah)
3. How many questions are there in the ‘four questions’? (One)
4. What do you get when the number of questions in the four questions is subtracted from the number of plagues sent by God? (Nine)
5. How many days do we celebrate Pesach? (Eight)
6. What does the word Seder mean? (Order)
7. Why did God tell the Israelites to offer a lamb as a sacrifice on the night before they left Egypt? (The lamb was considered one of Egypt’s gods)
8. What do we get when we add the parts of the Seder with the cups of wine that we drink? (19)
9. What is the origin of the word Pesach? (The angle of death passed over the homes of the Children of Israel)
10. What are the five symbolic foods on the Seder plate? (Roasted egg; haroset; maror; roasted bone; and karps)

14. Which of the three ceremonial matzot do we break for the afikoman? (We break the middle one)
15. Add the number of parts in the Seder with the cups we drink and subtract the number of cups we prepare for Elijah. (18)
16. What does the word Afikoman mean? (Greek for dessert)
17. When we break the matzah for the afikoman we must break it into two uneven pieces. Which one becomes the afikoman and why? (We set aside the larger piece because as ‘slaves’ we never know when we will have our next meal, so we put more away for the future)
