Mayor Plusquellic to speak on Friday night, February 8

Mayor Plusquellic to Address Public Affairs Forum.
On Friday, February 8th, Beth El will present another evening of a formal Shabbat dinner and a “Jewish and Public Affairs Forum.”
Following a highly attended first such evening in December, the second in the three-part series will feature Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic, whose topic will be “Akron: A Mayor’s Perspective.”

for the city of Akron, he strives to make Akron a city of many opportunities,
maintaining the city’s rich history while moving toward the future.
The three forums aim to bring the Beth El Community together for a traditional Shabbat
dinner, prayer, a special speaker and discussion, and a delicious Oneg Shabbat sponsored by Beth El Sisterhood. The entire evening, which is open to the community, will begin with Shabbat dinner at 6:15 p.m., underwritten by the Osherow Family Foundation established by Carl and Thelma Osherow, and will be followed by services at
7:30 p.m., the mayor’s presentation, and the Oneg Shabbat.
The third program in “The Jewish and Public Affairs Forum” will be held on April
11th and will be presented by Daniel Flowers, Executive Director of the Akron-Canton
Regional Foodbank. This program will also be preceded by Shabbat d nner and will be followed by services and Sisterhood sponsored Oneg Shabbat. Pre-paid reservations for
the February 8th dinner are required by Friday, February 1st. Because the dinner is being catered, no late reservations will be accepted after that date, but names may be put on a
waiting list pending cancellations. Cost for the dinner is $15 for adults; $8 for children ages 6 – 12; and no charge for children ages 5 and under. Invitations will be mailed shortly. Those who wish may attend the services and Oneg Shabbat at no charge.
