March 03, 2008

Beth El extends a warm welcome to Lihi and Aharon
Schwartz, the Israeli shlichim for Akron and Canton, who will address the congregation during Shabbat
morning services on Saturday, March 15th. Their presentation will focus on the current situation in
Israel, including challenges the country faces, and they will also talk about themselves and the work they are doing in our community. Lihi has a law degree and has passed the bar in Israel, where she
has set up a private coaching business to integrate understanding the law in the educational system. She lectures and develops courses for youth through the Unit for Science Youth at Tel Aviv University. She
has also completed internships at the Israel Ministry of Justice and in the Prime Minister’s office.
Aharon has completed law school and a program in government science. He has a strong background in professional military service, where he served as a company commander in the tank corps of the
Israel Defense Force. His role involved leadership and management of nearly 100 soldiers; logistics; professional development; and leadership coaching. Aharon was chosen by the IDF as its representative to the German tank corps school to explore possible
collaboration between the two countries.
